The series Metamorphoses is an exploration of female narratives and constructs. The photographs and films are a mutation of the stereotypes and stories that my teenage daughters were being influenced by at the time of my residency.

Seeing how these reflections were informing their blossoming identities I asked my 15-year-old daughter to give me a make-over of her idealised celebrity look. Transformed with blonde hair extensions, fake nails, eyelashes, fake tan I went off to Spain to disintegrate into the desert taking my 17-year-old’s copy of Ovid’s Metamorphoses with me.

A daily ritual evolved; Being dressed by other residents, using myths from the book and myths from the location, the outcome was a mix of classical study and celebrity culture to create a world that is at once familiar but yet remarkably unsettling.
